Meanings for Chalicothérium
They were a few of many weird types of megafauna during the Miocene, about 5-15 million years ago. Chalicotherium come from the family Chalicotheriidae, a family of odd-toed ungulates, related distantly to horses and rhinos. They had a horse-like snout, clawed feet, and longer front legs, which gave them a strange upstanding appearance. Some from this family had front claws so long that they rolled them up and walked on their knuckles, not unlike apes. Fossils were found in Europe, Asia, and Africa, and have a Greek name.
Chalicotherium resemble titanotheres.
